We did a simple party for the babies this year. They don’t watch TV, so they don’t really know any characters. So that puts limits on a “theme.”
But they are so into hats and shoes. So we went off of that. Everybody had to wear their favorite hat and shoes. We saw all kinds of hats: masks (a little early for Halloween, dad!), beach hats, cowboy hats, princess, thug, you name it! And there were boots and sparkly heels and beach bum flippies!
Big floppy hats maybe scare her?
My little buddy tryin’ to look too cool for the moment. And yes, I wore a princess crown. Wouldn’t you?
Yaya also chose a princess crown…Emma’s quickly came off. Huh.
Trying on new hats!
We asked for second-hand gifts. Nobody listened! We have generous friends and family. <3 And apparently I only open gifts with my mouth open very wide. Who knew.
Gluten-free cupcakes (my recipe here) and Simple Foody’s Chocolate Buttercream Frosting {powdered sugar free}. I made the guests whole wheat cupcakes with real food ingredients.
Two-year-olds and fire…hmmm. Not too close, love!
A quick family photo (do you ever forget these? I feel so disappointed when I miss these opportunities.).
You can tell a lot about a kiddo by the way they eat their cake! This was the first sweets they’ve had since their first birthday smash cakes. Clearly they loved it. At least it was all whole food ingredients! They crashed a few hours later. I did, too, but that’s beside the point.
What’s Missing?
If you noticed there were no decorations, you were right! We went super low-key this year and just had family over. It made for stress-free party planning for me and an all-around fun afternoon – despite the lack of creativity.
What are your plans for your little one’s next birthday? Stress-free or creative bash?
So cute! I did a puppy dog theme for my daughter’s first birthday this past August. Since her birthday is in the summer, I can assume we will have lots of outdoor and water included birthday parties in our future. I did kind of go all out this year. I plan on doing less next year however.
Oh, that sounds soooo cute! :o) Do you have a post on it?
Like! . . . stress-free is better than stressed-out.
Thanks, mom! 🙂 I’m so glad you saw this! <3
