When There’s Three on the Screen – Three Babies

When you're lying there with goop on your belly, nervous and excited, and the technician says, "There's three!" Three babies. And time stops. And your heart takes forever to start beating again. And your mind goes numb, yet races at the same time. And someone tells you to smile. And you feel like a freak. When you look at the man you created a child with, learn there are three and wonder if he'll stay with you. And your heart wills him to feel through the panic and walk it with you. Even as he does the same. When logic commands you to deny all possibilities, every fibre of your being in confusion. And yet curiosity compels you closer. And the mother's heart within you draws you, … [Read more...]

“The Least of These”

Jesus calls us to care for those in our community and the world abroad in whatever ways we can (Matthew 25:31-46). Some are called to go and do. Some are called to prayerfully or financially support those who go and do. Some are called to rescue. Some are called to heal. Some are called to preach the Gospel. And some are called to adopt. David and I feel we fall in this last category, especially. Before we had even met one another, we each had a burden to add to whatever family God gave us by adoption. For as long as I can remember, I've felt called to rescue a little girl from China. (For months into my pregnancy with the trio I felt a stronger connection to our little girl who most likely … [Read more...]

The Great Shot Debate, part 2

I shouldn't have been, but I was: I was surprised by the huge response to the first part of this series: The Great Shot Debate (if you haven't read it, start there and take the quick poll, too!). I have received Facebook emails, text, comments and questions galore! Part of why I think this topic is so popular is because we all love our children so very, very much. And, with new information cropping up every day - both pro and anti vaccinations, I think all our ears are tuned in. Each of us wants to make sure we are doing the best thing(s) for our children and to feel confident in those decisions. Which is a good thing. What we shouldn't be doing is blindly accepting anyone's recommendations … [Read more...]

“Too Much To Carry?”

Recently I came acrossan article on my facebook page with this title, by the Washington Post online. I would encourage you to read it. All the way through. Every word. You may not be able to see through your tears. Your stomach may churn. But it's a must read. Because selective reduction happens every day across our country. Parents kill off one or two (or MORE!) children in their womb. Why? Why would a parent play God like this and make decisions only He should make? Because one or more might have a handicap. Or one might be "behind" in growth. Or they might want one sex over another. Or one might simply make one too many babies for whom the parents can "easily" care. It's that disgusting. … [Read more...]

Five Reasons You Should Go to Your Local Abortion Mill

Christians, this needs no introduction. But I will briefly mention that my mother was at one of the local killing places this morning all by herself as the waiting room was overflowing with mothers and fathers killing their unborn babies. Please take two minutes and read this letter written from RC Sproul, Jr.: I know it is a scary thought. I know it is outside our comfort zone. And so at best we pray for those who go, those spiritual super-heroes that are better than we are. At worst we get angry at them for making us feel guilty. Going to the mill, however, will not save your soul, will not assuage your guilt. Jesus did that. If you will go, however, you will no longer fear, but will know … [Read more...]
