Bon appétit, bébé! {overview}

One of the topics I receive questions about most frequently (besides “are they natural?” =) has to do with how I made baby food for the babies. Now, I’ve only been feeding the triplets for about a year, but during that year I have made a lot of baby food. A lot. And, if you know me, I’ve done more than a little research on this region of parenting – nutritional aspects, cost analyses, time efficiency, product reviews, etc. So, I am happy to finally be able to share my efforts and experiences with you! Some of the most frequent questions I hear from you are: When did you first give solids to the babies and what did you give them? How did you decide what to give them? How did … [Read more...]

A Little Bitty Garden

That's what I have now! I actually am really excited and feel so super grown-up! I have always hated anything to do with yard-work, much preferring to be in the house accomplishing something. I guess I just hate bugs and dirt and...the unknown? But now with three little mouths to feed (that really can eat more than I do!), I am desperately looking for ways I can decrease our costs while still serving up wholesome, real foods. So, I turn to the world of gardening. Did you know it's far more difficult than planting something in some dirt and watering every day??? There's a whole science to it. Ok, so I really did know that, but I didn't know as much of the science as I know now...and there's … [Read more...]

Babe In A Mug

Recently my hubby said he was surprised I hadn't picked up on the "baby in a mug" craze going around. I said, "what's baby in a mug?" He was even more surprised to learn I hadn't seen this yet. So he told me to Google it. I did. And ohmygoodness, sooooo cute and so fun! So, of course I had to do it. Heehee! And why stop with one baby? Let's get TRIPLETS in a mug!!! So, without further ado, here is our snapshot of #babeinamug: This was obviously a very large mug. Kidding. It's actually the mug we got from our honeymoon. :sigh: Now I need to go reheat my, coffee! And you wanted to vote for us below, right? Cause you haven't yet today? See, I knew there was a reason I was including … [Read more...]

Little Daycare in the Suburbs

It's really interesting, the spectrum of responses I get on various aspects of life with triplets. Sometimes I feel like a volleyball, being hit from one side to the other. I regularly have conversations with people who can't stop shaking their heads at how I "do it all." (I don't. See my explanation here.) I often hear, "My one (or two, or three, or four) is so challenging - I can't imagine having three at once." Neither could I, friend. Neither could I. =) These are often the same people who seem surprised to see me around town - at church, the grocery store, etc. Somehow, I should be unable to get out until maybe around age 6. And the fact that I am out must mean I am Super Woman. Most … [Read more...]

Forty Years in the Making – An Anniversary to Celebrate

Every once in a while you encounter a moment in time that you realize will be life-altering. You know the kind? Life is just happening…when all of a sudden it dawns on you that this present moment is a bit bigger than you had thought. I’ve had several moments like these. Most recently, was when I learned that I was carrying triplets. The world around me stopped and life as I knew it – life as I’d hoped, planned and dreamed it – was shattered. (The Good News Is - It's Triplets) These moments can be good but they can also be terrifying and tempt us with serious doubts, worry and flat-out fear. But I think even in these scary, life-altering moments we can be propelled towards a more … [Read more...]

Happy Birthday, part 1

Well, it took me long enough, right??? Only 43 days past their birthday...but who's counting? September 30th, 2012 dawned clear and bright. And hot. Very, very, VERY hot. The day the babies were born (October 1, 2011), was chilly and everybody arriving at the hospital had their warm scarves, jackets and hot coffee in hand. 364 days later there was not a scarf in sight! But we kept on, grateful that it wasn't raining! I have to pause here for a moment and thank several people who made this day possible. (With three one year olds to still care for, I was left with very little time each day to prep for the party! Eight solid hours each day are spent just feeding my babies. Need I say … [Read more...]

Wash Day…With a Little Help!

My little stinker has been trying my patience these days with multiple molars coming in and being super clingy. He out-crawls his sisters, often climbing over them, to get to me. Most times he forgets he has siblings and thinks he's an only child. He is showing his sin nature often these days and mommy's all too often rears it's ugly head. I'm so grateful for gentle reminders of His grace, new mercies every morning to deal with tantrums, and comic-relief moments like these: … [Read more...]
